I would say that I have probably traveled a little more than the average person. I’ve been in most travel situations you can think of. I’ve arrived at the airport four hours early. I arrived when my flight was boarding. I was delayed 45 minutes, canceled mid-flight, and brought back.
I’ve stayed in the Hilton five-star hotels, motels, and hostels. As well as subways, buses, trains, bicycles, and boats, these are all mistakes I’ve encountered in my travels.
Today I’m talking to you about the painful things I’ve encountered in my travels.
These are the 8 travel mistakes I have made and summarized. Today, with the help of Team Member Travel, I’d like to share them with you in the hope that they can be helpful to you.
Don’t Forget Your Chargers
Let’s get started. I just realized I did this stupid thing. I habit that I always charging my phone at night when I go to bed.
Then I forget my charger sometimes, which is probably the most frustrating thing. Because we’re traveling, our phones are so important to us.
There are no phone chargers in airports, and some airports may offer free chargers. But I don’t want to stand by the charger and wait for it to charge.
So you have to buy a charger at the airport, but of course, it’s overpriced for sure.
Once I paid $40 for one, I was desperate to spend the money for nothing.
After that, I came up with a lesson. I don’t want to get myself out of the habit of charging at night, and I don’t think I’ll necessarily remember to bring my charger next time.
My solution is to bring an extra charger in my suitcase, no matter the situation.
Pack An Eye Mask
Usually, I sleep at home without an eye mask.
My subconscious mind allows me to sleep very well in such a safe place, even when the sun shines in the morning. That’s why I don’t wear an eye mask when I sleep at home.
But when staying in a hotel, most people are usually required to wear an eye patch, including me.
Because of the new environment we were unfamiliar with. For another, there were a lot of ambient lights inside the bedroom that was on all the time. I had a few sleepless nights because I didn’t have an eye patch.
If we are traveling with friends and they are used to staying up late at night, they usually turn on the bedside lamp.
As my friends like me, I highly recommend you bring eye masks and earplugs if you can’t sleep well, even with a bit of light.
If you don’t sleep well, it really affects your travel schedule the next day.
Do Not Use The Black Bags
Stop buying black luggage.
In theory, it looks like a good idea to buy a black bag that is stylish and cool.
But it’s actually the worst thing you can do because too many people like to check in black bags. When your bag just comes off the carousel, you’ll find a lot more black bags behind you.
You’ll have a hard time figuring out which one is yours. It’s OK if you marked it, but would you really spot the package you kept in that environment in a heartbeat?
Most of the time, we use color or shape to differentiate.
No one wants to take the wrong suitcase because it’s too much of a hassle.
Proper Use Of Dust Bags
When we travel, we often take a few pairs of shoes. Of course, the shoes are not new.
Imagine how we can ensure that our shoes and other intimate items complement each other even when brushed clean and put in a checked suitcase with our clothes?
Therefore, it is necessary to use dust bags to pack shoes, even if they do not look dirty.
In any case, I do use dust bags to wrap my shoes every time.
Early Flights
I don’t know if you know one thing, but the plane can take off early.
I was stunned when I came across this.
Before, I was really unaware that planes could leave early. If everyone checked in, they could decide if they wanted to board early. Then they could get the paperwork from air traffic control to take off early.
Well, I didn’t know about this. So one time, I had an international flight to Amsterdam and almost missed my flight because I had a cup of coffee in the restaurant.
I froze when I realized that the staff was yelling at me over and over with a loudspeaker, 20 minutes before boarding time.
Everyone looked at me with disdain, as if I had delayed the entire plane.
But what the heck, I didn’t know they could board early. So you really should get to the gate early because you don’t know if they’re going to board early.
About Room Service
I think the room service is perfectly acceptable.
If we travel on business, room service will make your travel life more manageable.
You’re not really there to see a city. You’re there to do work. In this case, you can get all the room service you want.
But if you’re traveling to another country and book room service, that’s a shame. Because an essential part of the trip is your culinary experience of the city, the exploration of finding different restaurants, and the whole experience of the restaurant.
The almost perfect room service completely wears out your desire to explore your new surroundings.
Checking In Late
No matter the situation, you need to check in as soon as possible.
What I mean by that is that it is possible to get your seat set as much as you are allowed. If you’re the last few to check-in, you have no idea what seat you’ll be placed in.
If you fly a lot and are indifferent to each position, you can skip this suggestion.
If you buy basic economy, they won’t let you choose your seat at the time of booking yet. 30 people bought seats in basic economy and haven’t checked in yet.
Then 24 hours before you can check-in means there are 30 seats to choose from. So in effect, it’s first come, first served. The first person to check-in gets to choose 30 seats first. The following person next, so if you wait until you check-in at the airport, and everyone else has checked in, where are your seats?
Imagine it for yourself.
The Secret To A fulfilling Trip
The last question is a little different.
Imagine a situation where you travel somewhere and come back to find that you didn’t really feel the joy of the trip.
That may be because you may not have really made a travel plan to see what you really want to see.
So my approach is to break it down into some things that I want to do, and then I categorize them.
For example, in history, you go to places that have history. I try to find places that have a lot of history.
The other is modern, looking for current trends; maybe it’s more like a modern museum.
The third one is cooking and trying the food in your place.
Finally, complete your advance plan in as limited a time as possible.
Next time, when you go on a trip, do the same. See the results and compare the results.
Conclusion
These are all mistakes that I have made on previous trips.
After summing up, it is established to give you travel advice.
These regrettable things above don’t always happen. But, it’s not every day that we travel.
Don’t be sorry when you meet.
If we prepare in advance, at least we won’t be missing out on anything because of the extra preparation, right?
Finally, I wish you all a safe trip.
